No Follow Links for SEO4FUN

Here's some random SEO related websites. I'll put up enough URLs here so the difference between a clean link and nofollow link should be big. (say each page has 3 out links and 1 internal; that's .25 of a page's PR transfered per link. If the links have nofollow on 3 links, then the 1 internal link should still send %100 PR. Without nofollow, the same link should only transfer .25. The difference should be even greater when the number of links increases.

  1. SE Optimized Copy VS Design One post has Jill Whalen talking about including 200~250 words copy text for good SE placement. I didn't know she posted under Advisor nick on www.ihelpyou.com. Notice the thread is dated 2002. I found one interesting remark about a graphical website pwning the SERPS due to large amount of backlinks.
  2. Word Count &Text analysis Which brings me to this tool, where you can size up your web page to see how many non-stop words you have on your web page. (So far, this page has 71 words.)
  3. Matt Cutts' Blog This one is a must read for anyone interested in search engines and sometimes you can find nuggets of info in the comments.
  4. Small Business Ideas Forum A discussion about meta tags and keywords. Nothing conclusive though."Most people agree that the Meta tag is useless. I'll take it a step further and argue that it's hazardous. There is more risk than reward in using the meta keywords tag because your competitors can view the meta keywords tag and can steal your keywords." Where does this "agreement" come from no one knows. I have never seen an experiment done to test these assumptions. The conventional wisdom is that Google ignores meta tags and Yahoo/MSN doesn't, but no one has actually proven that. I also don't find "stealing keywords" that plausible. After you work in one field for a while, it becomes pretty obvious what group of keywords you and your competitor is vying for.
  5. Google Analytics I've heard some people call others idiots for using analytics, because it gives Google too much information about your site, but why worry when I have nothing to hide? People used to pay good money to use this tool, so personally, I don't see any problems using it on my domains.
  6. Google Bowling An interesting article about the Google Bowling phenomenon and a plausible solution: neutralize questionable links.
  7. A Thread about URL only pages Though personally, I think often this happens because of screwy HTML, a NOINDEX tag for a previously indexed page, a page just visited by spiders for the first time, if the page is not worth indexing, etc.
  8. 301 Redirect / Nelson's Blog One line I found interesting is where he said " It took a bit of fiddling to redirect both hostname and path in a single response "
