According to Jim Westergren, it sounds like using rel=nofollow to block PR leakage is an idea with merit. I'm still not completely convinced, but I'm thinking of blocking some links to send more PR to internal pages. Is there a way to test this? Basically, the assumption is that Google will not count links with rel=nofollow toward the total number of links on the page. That means using this tag on duplicate links and links to copyright pages is a good idea.
Another idea I picked up from Jim.
On a blog it is the single post pages that are important at it is those that will rank high in search engines.
So on those pages - like this one - I removed the navigation on the right side. This as those words are not usually related to the subject of the post and by removing it you increase the KW density.
